Making Better Photos - Tips at Gnomedex with KK

Blog
created on Fri, 2008-08-22 13:09 On stage at Gnomedex @kk on TwitPic

It's Geeky Fun

Checking in from legendary geek-fest Gnomedex. The Raincity Studios squad of Francis Pilon, Kris Krug and I arrived yesterday in time for the kick off party (naturally) and seeing old friends and making new ones.

So many people here doing remarkable projects across many disciplines. But rather than name checking everyone (i'll get to that eventually), this dispatch is to say that RCS' KK kicked off the event with a great preso about making better photos.

The tips were augmented by charming examples from his massive portfolio and he'll likely be busy the rest of the con-fab with his offer of a photoshoot in exchange for tasty links to his Vancouver photography studio.

His presentation will be posted somewhere sometime soon with a CC license for your sharing goodtimes. Stay aware and i'll be sure to link it up.

Gnomedex approaches

Marc Canter takes a snooze at Gnomedex

The almost-legandary geekfest is a single-track extravaganza where you can screen drop on Dave Winer, party with Marc Cantor and schmooze the people making the Internet (and other revolutions) with their bare hands.

Chris and Ponzi cultivate an "everyone's a VIP vibe" with parties, conversations and great food. Krug shares photography tips on Friday and will be snapping throughout the event.

Bonus: It's Geeky Fun! (song by Derek K. Miller).
Tip: Get in front of KK's lens to get the best profile pics ever.

Home From Gnomedex

Blog
created on Thu, 2007-08-16 13:35

Back in Vancouver for a week after a few days in Seattle at Gnomedex. Gnomedex is a secret club of uber geeks that gets together once a year to hang, chill, chat, chest beat, network, share, and collaborate. Or something. It's put on by friends Chris and Ponzi and draws a great group of nerds, dorks, and geeks from around the globe. I got the chance to hang with lots of old friends like Ethan, Lee, Mark, Dave, Darren, Scott, Schlomo, and Jay and met lots of new ones like Guy, Cali, Jacob, Molly, and others. Here's some of my pics from the event.
