Are you BAD enough for Drupal? Bay Area Drupal Camp this weekend in Berkeley
BlogReturn to the Bay
This weekend is the 2008 iteration of Bay Area Drupal Camp held at U.C. Berkeley, Saturday and Sunday, October 11th and 12th.
Along with the info at Badcamp.net, the schedule is Google-doc'ed and will give you a sense of what's in-store.
Notably, Earl Miles creator of Views, Panels will kick off the learning fest with a keynote on Saturday morning.
My pal Dmitri is presenting on Simple Test (along with Florian Lorétan), CCK and jQuery (along with Amit Asaravala), Tao Starbow will show you how to make your own Wikipedia, Chris Bryant discusses managing site configurations and Keiran speaks about the Acquia buzz.
Alas, the event is full so if you slacked, you are almost out of luck, ... in true Drupal fashion, some geeks are organizing an overflow event so everyone goes home happy.
BAD Flashback
Last year Francis, Erik and I (DaveO) headed down to enjoy some autumnal California sun and learning.
I recorded a handful of podcasts with some interesting Drupalists {William on accessibility, Dmitri on module making and Colin on innovative projects}. Plus annotated a few presentations from the academic halls of the impressive campus and back to Vancouver.
SXSW Wrapup - Better Late then Never
Blog
The team made it back in one piece, no snow storm can stop the likes of our Raincity expedition. After days of music and booth hopping we need a quick recap on the event and how others enjoyed themselves.
One of Raincity's biggest footprints left was the sheer epicness of the swag we handed out. When comments like "Where I can buy the Vancouver's Raincity Studios t-shirt??? It's fantastic..." are being thrown around you know someone did something right. tcritic.com agrees in Drupal Vader and RoboGames.
I discovered that it’s actually based on the Drupal logo and was just some schwag that the Raincity Studios team (a drupal based developer/community builder) put together for SXSW. I wish they would sell the damn thing, it’s awesome.

Blame Canada - Gonzo Preparations for SxSW 2008
Blog
Suffice to say the Raincity Studios clan are pretty excited about SxSW in Austin, Texas.
Yup, I'll be rolling with a posse of Vangroovy SxSW veterans. The Raincity Studios "away team" consists of Scales, KK+. Erik, Roland "Mr. Furley" Tangalo, and me and we're hosting a 10x20 booth (I prefer to call it a lounge) with all sorts of activities in mind during the Interactive and the Music portions of the shindig.
As pointed out in the Tokyo Ramen and SxSW vidcast - social media lunatic Roland Tanglao and I plan to brew up a variety of coverage - live, on-demand, useful, incidental ... interviews with geeks doing neat things, bands, bloggers, labels, fanzines, you ... whoknows?
