Drupal Camps Forthcoming in Seattle and Alberta

Blog

Drupal Camper Alert!

Drupal Modules - roll your own

Prepare for two impending Drupal Camps - in Seattle, (Organized by the Seattle Drupal User Group), and in Alberta at the University of Lethbridge with Michael Warf at the helm.

You can participate by presenting, helping out or by sponsoring (AB, SEA) - Yes! join the sponsors of Drupal Camp Vancouver by "paying it forward" - the self-education of Drupalist is paramount to success!

Specifically, Seattle Drupal Camp seeks presenters to speak about:

  • Views
  • Panels 2
  • jQuery
  • Contributing Back (anything but code)
  • Theming Views, Panels, and CCK
  • SimpleTest

Robin Barre from CivicActions is your contact for signing on and making your knowledge known to the community.

I'll resist writing a lengthy treatise about how worthy these events will be for Drupal entusiasts and fotering community relations and instead provide a quick lowdown with details. Be sure to say "hi" to any RCS crew who make it - we are fairly decent folk ;-).

Drupal Camp Vancouver Wrap-up

Blog

I posted a big Drupal Camp Vancouver 08 Wrap-up but am adding a bit here to offer bonus kudos to my Raincity Studios colleagues for top-notch presentations and participation.

Drupal Camp Vancouver T-Shirt

It was really great meeting more Drupal enthusiasts from companies who would normally be classified as "our competition" yet, in the spirit of translucency, we openly shared techniques, knowledge, anecdotes and (what other companies would call) trade secrets. Big ups to our new friends, folks from out of town, helpers, fun-loving coders, sprinters, old pals, usual suspects, and everyone else.

Registration to Drupal Camp Vancouver now Open!

Blog

Yes you guessed it! Registration for Vancouver's Drupal Camp in open and the wisest ones are already signing up. The event is limited to about 80 attendees/participants and cost $20 to secure your slot.

For the twenty, you'll get a lunch (or maybe two) and an eco-friendly t-shirt out of the deal but the big payoff to this ultra-thrifty event is the knowledge sharing, camaraderie and networking with enthusiasts from many facets of the web dev world including coders, architects, designers and even some business and marketing types. The sponsors represent the hippest companies in town and many of them are hiring too.

A new logo is out and it isn't a contribution from Raincity Studios for once ;-). The new logo is the handy work of Colin Calnan and he really pulled through.

DrupalCampVancouver.org - Now with Date, Venue and Website

Blog

{Cross posted in various forms at Vancouver Drupal Camp Group, Urban Vancouver and Now Public - please spread the word}

First there was an idea, then we chose a date (May 9-10), set up a relevant Drupal Group, now there is a location (SFU Wosk Centre and Workspace) and finally a Drupal Camp Vancouver website.

Indeed, the rag-tag band of volunteers is steadily working to wrangle Drupal Camp Vancouver into a knowledge-sharing fest of unparalleled fun and untold benefits.

Consider this notice that DrupalCampVancouver.org is alive and slowly percolating up with the relevant details and useful information including Sponsor info (and checklist), Volunteer info (and organizer props), and the important Call for Speakers.

Registration will open this week so keep your eyes open for details to be among the chosen.

For those who don't know, Drupal is an open source Content Management System which powers many of your other favorite community driven sites.

How can you help?

Great question! 'Tis a busy time for all (including many involved with Open Web this week) so volunteers are important to spread the work around. Big thanks to those who've signed on so far. Have a bit of time? Then consider signing up by Contacting the organizers to help out (no big deal eh) and see ya at DrupalCampVancouver.org.
