New Raincity Peeps; growing our development team to better service you!
Time flies when you keep busy! Over the last few months, I've been focusing on various projects. And as always, I've been lazy about blogging and keeping our peeps in the loop.
So what has Raincity been up to lately and what's coming for the next few months?
Our team is growing steadily. After a few months of searches (Thank you to everyone who sent in a resume), we are happy to welcome 3 new members to our team:
- Audrey Foo; veteran PHP Developer, founder and Director of the Vancouver PHP User Association, she is joining our Drupal Development team this month. Audrey will be collaborating on various client and internal projects.
- Steve Krueger; a Designer/Developer extraordinaire, he came to Raincity as part of our internship program. We hired him immediately! Being fresh from school, Steve configures and themes Drupal sites in his sleep. As Obi-won would say "the force is strong in him".
- Katherine Bailey; this highly motivated PHP/AJAX developer from Ireland just moved to Canada. Katherine will be splitting her time between RCS and her ongoing work for doubleclick.com
With these new additions, our team is starting to take on more of an international flavor. Already having a few Quebecers, and some folks from France, Japan, the Netherlands and Canada bien sure! Together the 10 members that compose the Raincity team can speak the following languages: French, English, German, Spanish, Dutch, Mandarin and a few other dialects.
With more than 50% of our team being French speaking, this means that our next Raincity corporate site will be bilingual. (Coming this Fall)
We are gearing up to provide professional Drupal services "en Francais", a smart move considering all the "langualization" work that is being done for Drupal 6.
We continue our search for new talent including a Marketing/Drupal Champion, a Sales Manager and a Jr. Developer/Production Artist. Do you know anyone? Can you say referral bonus? email inquire @ raincitystudios dot com
Raincity is moving to a new office!
Yes, we've finally found a new pad for our growing team!
It's been a good few years at 525 Seymour Street! We moved into suite 501 in November 2005, sharing a 1300 square foot space with Flourish Media and Boxtop Studios. When Flourish folded last summer, we took over the bulk of the office and our friend Art moved to a great new location a few months ago.
As much as the current space has been good to us, with its "Dick Tracy" glass doors and old windows, it never was the office I wanted.
Our initial office was in Gastown, near Workspace and Bryght, but after a series of break-ins, we opted to move to a more suitable location.
So now, almost 2 years later, we are returning to our Gastown roots and will be moving into a 1500+ square foot open office space on October 1st, 2007. More details to come later this week!
I will miss the great view of the North Shore and the busy streets of downtown. But I am sure you will all agree that we made a great choice once you see our new pad.
