Imagine if you could participate in the development process for 500 acres of prime property like the Southlands in South Delta. Through the Bryght Light site, southlandsintransition.ca, you can!

The site is a Drupal 5 Bryght Light site using the Bryght Basic install profile, Garland theme, a custom logo, configuration and colours and the secret sauce that all successful sites have: passionate users and contributors.

Whether or not you are a South Delta or Tsawwassen or even Greater Vancouver resident, there are lessons to be learned and ways you can contribute for all.

How do we handle sustainable development, changing demographics, urban agriculture, food security, transportation, etc?. How do we get our livelihood to be more local? Do we really want the majority of our residents commuting outside of their communities to earn their livelihoods? What kind of community do we want to be?

Engaging the community in an honest and frank discussion is getting people talking in the community and on the web. All these issues and more are being debated and discussed on Southlands in Transition web site (and there's even a link to another Bryght featured site, the Congress for New Urbanism since this issues raised in this discussion are very much in the new urbanists' domain).
