You'll hear more about this topic in the coming weeks but, ... to get you intrigued and activated, the Drupal-powered, Raincity Studios-hosted, community-driven, Vancouver-local, social-change-focused, web community Change Everything is a finalist for the Webby Award in two categories: the the People's Voice and Social Networking.

ChangeEverything's community wrangler Kate in the ChangeEverything vs. Facebook - who will you vote for?

The two awards we are up for are considered the most sought after awards in the Internet Industry with over 10,000 entries from over 60 countries being submitted this year alone. The list of judges who selected us as a finalist and will select the winner include Matt Groening, David Bowie and Richard Branson.

The competition is rather ominous and noteworthy: the megalithic Facebook build your own community tool Ning, the awesome social web browser Flock, and group blogging site Bebo. Some noble endeavours for sure but ChangeEverything is a site with a mission to make the world better - something everyone can get behind.

At Raincity Studios, we heartily endorse Change Everything for both Webby Awards and encourage you to follow Kate's steps to success:

1) Register on the Webby site and vote for ChangeEverything.ca. Our ballot can be found under the category "website" and then "social network". And when you register, be sure to check your spam folder as the invite to vote may go there.

2) Forward to your friends and family and ask them to vote for ChangeEverything.ca, the little Canadian online social network that could!

3) If you have a Facebook account, blog or similar, use it to get the word out about the vote

4) Post the button pictured here (above) on your website or blog

Kudos to web strategists Social Signal, and their client, credit union Vancity, for this acknowledgment of their innovative thinking and excellent execution.

Thanks for the shout!

Hi, Dave -

We're thrilled that Change Everything has come so far, so fast - and just as happy that it's become such a significant part of Vancouver's social change (and social media!) landscape.

It's been a pleasure to work on - a real labour of love for all concerned, including our Raincity compadres - and the Webby nomination's a tribute both to Kate's dedication to her work, and to the creativity and vision of the thousands of Change Everything members.

Thanks again!
