Bryght Re-visited
Bryght, the pioneering Drupal hosting platform is tuned-up and ready for your web community building.
Quick-starting and infinitely extendable, Bryght's refined packages are designed specifically for content publishers - from heavily-trafficked enterprises, through to emerging organizations, and individuals seeking their own Gutenberg press for personal expression.
Now available in Free, Cheap, or Fancy
Defining the Drupal hosting space since 2004, Raincity Studios continues Bryght's tradition of setting the standard for open source web community publishing. Since the Raincity Studios acquisition of Bryght in Nov. 2007, we've carefully observed what Bryght customers produce on the platform, and explored many Drupal sites in the wild. Armed with this knowledge, we've honed the Bryght packages to fit your specific expectations. As such, you are sure to find a fit for your current needs, as well as a sensible upgrade path for continued happiness.
Light - Free or Cheap
Elegantly simply, Bryght Light is much more than a blog! Your Bryght Light site is able to handle 100s of active users - each with a unique blog, feed, gallery, and permissions - plus you can easily add polls, forums, calendar, podcasts and video. All the good stuff but no maintenance and updates since your site lives in a shared hosting environment tended to by the Bryght squad.
And all this can be yours! Choose from free (ad-supported) or cheap ($19.95/mo. after 30 days free trial). Choose a sub-domain or use a registered domain to customize your site.
And Bryght is multi-lingual! Choose from English and 中文 (Mandarin Chinese) for your Bryght Light site - browse the site in Chinese for your added convenience.
VPS - Robust and Scalable
Infinitely extendable, Bryght's Virtual Private Server packages allow complete control of your web community - including access to dozens of tested modules from the Bryght SVN repository. With shell access and open code, there's no end to what you can create using Bryght as your community development platform.
For enterprises seeking robust and rugged hosting for heavily trafficked sites, Bryght VPS is the pathway for success.
Here are the packages:
- Good $60/month, + 1-time set-up fee $50
- Better $120/month + 1-time set-up fee $100
- Best $200/month + 1-time set-up fee $100
Bryght VPS is also offered in English and 中文 (Mandarin Chinese) - browse the site in Chinese and make your choice when you sign up. Note: Chinese users must have a registered domain name.

Care for a Massage?
You may notice the VPS pricing tiers were massaged upwards. Why?
Well, this is the first increase of VPS pricing ever ... but the primary driver for the incremental increase comes from listening to our customers. We've learned customers feel that superior reliability and responsive support are worth the small price increase. With this in mind, the Raincity Studios/Bryght team are now managing all server hardware with a dedicated sysadmin.
So say hello to RCS Resident Systems Engineer, Narayan Newton! You may know N2 from his work running the juggernaut which is Drupal.org. Additionally, some of the Bryght hosting is migrating to Canada to provide a safe harbour for your precious data under Mr. Newton's watchful eye.
To ensure this occasion a joyous one, existing VPS customers' pricing remains unchanged until December 31, 2009 - however, if you choose to upgrade, or sign up new VPS, then the new rack rate applies.
While we're talking bill, beginning Sept.1, 2008, GST will be added for Canadian customers. Sorry non-Canucks, no fun taxes for you ;-)!
Why so Special?
What can you do with a Bryght site?
In short - Communicate with your audience using a variety of media and mash-ups with other technologies.
Importantly, you retain ownership of your content and community. Using Drupal on an open source LAMP stack means your site is practically portable and you can move elsewhere or in-house down the road if needed. Nothing proprietary, nothing secret, nothing locked down. This isn't common.
Roadmap
But wait, there's more! On the development docket are:
More languages - With Chinese live, French and Spanish are next on the list, with more tranlsations in the near future. Considering Drupal's international nature, we want everyone to speak Bryght in their preferred language to facilitate publishing with ease.
Varied profiles - The basic Bryght Light is a solid starting point for small-time publishers but we've got a notion to add some specialized install profiles designed for say, podcasters or church groups or sports teams or non-profit groups - including the specific feature set and information architecture to make starting even easier.
E-commerce - Selling stuff is great but when you can combine useful shopping cart and payment gateway features with the inherent social networking, baked-in SEO and feed-a-bility of Drupal, you can market your products to a bigger, more specific audience.
