Drupalcon Boston & the iPhoneUnlockcon
Drupalcon is sneaking up around the corner and as I count down the calendar days until the event I'm actually trying to think of what to expect when I arrive. This will be my first Drupalcon as well as my first time flying on a plane since I was 2.
I'll be traveling alongside some of my fellow peers here at Raincity Studios and I'm sure they'll keep Raincity's youngest in good hands ;).
I'm quite thrilled to be able to participate and hopefully converse with some of the leading contributors from the Drupal project. I've been working with Drupal for about 7 or 8 months now and everyday I'm learning something new.
Due to the nature of me being a generalist, I'll hopefully be dabbling in quite a variety of sessions. Here are a couple that have perked my interest and hopefully yours as well.
"What's in a Theme: The power of enterprise-level theming"
Taking a look at Enterprise-level sites that pose unique challenges such as consistency, flexibility, optimization for high-volume traffic, as well as the extensibility for ongoing development and maintenance.
"Sex Drupal & Rock n Roll - a Theming love story"
This session will concentrate on how to build a rock solid library of theming goodies that respect your css, html & js coding style.
Skirt.com : Affiliated content for magazines
Skirt! is local magazine for women, produced by regional affiliates. Skirt.com needed to build a web site that would allow editors to share content across multiple affiliates, promote content to the national site, and change the design to match the local market.
No Tears Methods for User Centered Design
We all want our customers to be satisfied with our products and for them to sustain their use of them. But have you ever wondered if the design of your product is on the right path towards getting that satisified user?
Multisite Development
This session will explain how to quickly and easily take advantage of Drupal’s multi-site capabilities for rapid and safe development of small, medium & large projects. We create three sites per project - DEVelopment, QA and LIVE - and use SVN and a homegrown tool called pushdb to manage releases and the moving of databases between sites.
I know, I know... most are design or development centric and I'd love to list them all. If you have an awesome proposal or session that you think will be great, I'd love to hear your responses in the comments.
iPhoneUnlockcon
The Raincity team will be touching down on the 1st of March and are planning on doing a flash-mob-esque invasion of nearby Apple stores so we can get our greedy Canadian hands on some iPhones. This will more than likely happen on the 2nd of March which is a Sunday. We'll probably have an informal sit-down afterwards to see how many iPhones we can unlock (or brick if unlucky, be forewarned!).
Want to participate? Drop a line in the comments!
Cheers, and I'll see you at the Con!
