Raincity Rocks Web Communities for Sony BMG artists
Over the past year or two, Raincity Studios has teamed up with the Lullabots to build and theme unique Drupal sites for several high-profile and up and coming Sony BMG artists.
Drupal themeing has long been Raincity's calling card and we've certainly enjoyed contributing our skills to connect rock stars with their fans and vice versa. While we are still working along on some more Sony projects, here are a few we've rocked out in the past while.
Ozzy Osbourne
When we were asked to build a site for Ozzy Osbourne the guys were stunned and honored. The end result was to have fans that love Ozzy Osbourne have a haven to reside in for all their Ozzy needs. Fans can review events involving Ozzy. Any announcements or rants from the man in black will be posted there. There is even a place to research hidden meanings in the lyrics.
The guys at Lullabots built the Drupal framework for Ozzy's site leaving the design and theming to us at Raincity. Mark Yuasa headed up the design and theme implementation. There were a lot of design challenges brought in by the PNG transparency and precise measurements. All that hard work translates directly into a VERY pretty and detailed site.
Paula DeAnda
Sony asked us to make a site tailored to Paula DeAnda. Hubert Florin took up the reins as designer of the site with Francis Pilon starting the theming process. Francis got pulled away mid-project and Mark had to finish off the theming. Along the way, the team encountered a hurdle of a CSS challenge that puzzled them all day until they solved the conundrum in a final "Eureka" moment that saved the day.
The site includes a variety of different goodies that you can download onto your phone so fans can take her anywhere. Fans can also tune into streaming music and read her blog. There is also an embeddable video player and a photo library.
Good Charlotte
Creating the Good Charlotte site was unique because it was the first Sony artist site we built. It was very busy as soon as it went live, more then 300 users on launch day. Fans can use the site to join the personal Good Charlotte fan club, take polls on a number of different things and of course read the band's blog. The challenge of it being the first site was getting used to the Drupal framework built by Lullabots.
and the Rest ...
Once Raincity Studios and Lullabots were running smoothly, it became much easier to conquer each site assigned. The Sony Artist sites converting to the Drupal platform are great examples of web 2.0 community building at work. All the sites made for Sony don't differ too much in features or usability. Fans can create profiles, upload pictures and videos from concerts or events. They can also read blogs from the band members and keep up with the latest news. The rest of the sites that were pumped out by the Raincity Studios team in step with the Lullabots are:
